Topic Autumn Term 2024
Year 2 has started off full of fun! Our DT topic is all about bridges. We looked closely at the structure of them and learnt new vocabulary such as "piers and deck". The children now know all about different types of bridges such as Arch, Suspension and Beam. We matched the bridges with the bridges in our local area such as; Northern Spire, Wearmouth and Hylton Bridge. The children had lots of fun figuring out the problems that came with building the bridges and working as a team to make their prototype. Once constructed we tested to find which type of bridges were the strongest.
